Bridging Gaps Through Free Online and Offline Training

Educational Discipline is the Key to Success.” — This is not just our tagline; it’s our belief that guides every step we take at Sri Takshashila Gurukul, a non-profit organization committed to transforming lives through education.

While exploring the education ecosystem, we found that government schools offer several facilities and schemes to support education. However, the latest ASER Report 2025 reveals an alarming rise in dropout rates among government school students compared to previous years.

Curious to understand why this gap persists, we delved deeper and discovered that the problem isn’t just about access — it’s about infrastructure, financial sustainability in families, and skill-based teaching methods. To bridge this gap, we brainstormed and designed initiatives that address these challenges head-on.

To make this opportunity accessible, Sri Takshashila Gurukul started offering free NMMS training both online and offline. Our pilot initiative began with one government school in Belagavi, Karnataka.

Though online teaching posed challenges — such as poor connectivity, lack of smartphones, and limited data packs — our belief was firm:

“If students cannot reach us, we must reach them.”

Our goal was simple — to scale up NMMS enrollment, help students think beyond their syllabus, and build confidence to face competitive exams

A Dedicated Volunteer Teacher Behind the Success

Our success wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment of Mr. Nagesh Mallikarjun, an Ex-IT Consultant with 25+ years of experience in software development, who now dedicates his time to teaching underprivileged students.

Mr. Nagesh previously trained NMMS aspirants at government schools in Bengaluru through Youth For Seva and continues to inspire students at our Belagavi centers with his blend of technology and teaching

Early Impact: The Spark is Growing

As a pilot initiative, we have reached 7 government schools near Belagavi, screened 150 students, and have 50+ actively attending classes online

Despite challenges like data limitations and lack of digital devices, the zeal for learning among these children keeps the mission alive. Students are attending sessions, solving assignments, and engaging enthusiastically with teachers — proving that determination beats limitation.

This is just the beginning of a long journey — a glimpse into how education can make students self-reliant and future-ready
